About Deca

Nandrolone Decanoate is the anabolic steroid Nandrolone. “Deca,” as it is informally known among bodybuilders. There is a good reason why Deca-Durabolin is so well-liked by bodybuilders and athletes and is even held in high regard by the medical establishment as well.

Nandrolone Decanoate is one of the most popular anabolic steroids to ever be created and has been a staple among performance-enhancing athletes of all types since its inception in 1962. It is also one of the few anabolic steroids that has remained prominent in medical circles and is highly valued in many therapeutic fields.

Nandrolone Decanoate is an injectable form of the anabolic steroid Nandrolone. The Decanoate ester provides a slow release of Nandrolone from the site of injection, lasting for up to three weeks. Nandrolone is very similar to testosterone in structure, although it lacks a carbon atom at the 19th position (hence its other name, 19nortestosterone). Like testosterone, nandrolone exhibits relatively strong anabolic properties. Unlike testosterone, however, its tissue-building activity is accompanied by weak androgenic properties.

Deca Side Effects

As previously noted, Deca is often cited as an anabolic steroid that is very mild in comparison to other compounds where side effects are concerned. Unfortunately, this is a mix of fact and fiction that needs to be addressed, and most of these ‘Deca is a mild steroid’ claims are from a bygone era when not much was yet known about these drugs, and today we know much more. Deca-Durabolin is, by all accounts, both a mild and harsh anabolic steroid, possessing both such properties.

As a progestin, Deca can also increase prolactin levels in the body. All of the Progesterone and prolactin-related issues can manifest in the form of side effects that are very similar to estrogen: puffy nipples, gynecomastia, bloating, etc. Anti-estrogens and aromatase inhibitors are known for effectively combating these side effects, even if they are attenuated through the progesterone receptor.

Deca-Durabolin Cycles and Uses

For the performance-enhancing individual, the bodybuilder or athlete, although a long-standing favorite, it’s also one of the most misunderstood. The common idea is that Nandrolone Decanoate is a great bulking steroid, but the truth is that it is a fantastic bulking steroid. However, there are numerous positive effects this steroid can bring.

Deca-Durabolin is naturally reserved by most athletes and bodybuilders for bulking, mass-adding, and strength-gaining cycles. This is due in part to its positive and beneficial effects on connective and bone tissue, allowing a greater rate of healing in these areas and an added injury preventative when heavier weights are used and more intense physical activity is engaged in.

For the off-season athlete, Nandrolone Decanoate is often a staple and one of the best choices he can make. Increases in mass will not occur at a rapid rate. Strength should also increase to a degree, although Nandrolone isn’t well known for being a strong strength promoter. The off-season athlete will also enjoy the recovery and therapeutic benefits this steroid provides. This is important as off-season training is normally the time when the heaviest weights are used. Due to the positive impact the steroid will have on the metabolism, the user will also find that he should be able to gain more size with less body fat than he would without Nandrolone use.

Very low doses of Nandrolone will provide relief and recovery, and a slightly higher dose will provide this along with increased levels of muscular endurance.

Being that Deca-Durabolin is a long-acting, esteemed variant of Nandrolone (possessing a half-life of 15 days), Deca-Durabolin cycles are and should be at least 12 weeks in length. Here, it is often combined with similar long-estered compounds, such as Testosterone Cypionate. Because of its long-acting nature, most users will not experience the ‘kick-in’ of the compound until at least several weeks into the cycle, and this is where many individuals will insert a kickstarting compound into the Deca-Durabolin cycle for the first few weeks. This is typically any oral anabolic steroid, such as Dianabol, Winstrol, Anadrol, Anavar, etc. However, for bulking and strength gaining, most individuals tend to lean towards compounds generally suitable for these goals, such as Anadrol (Oxymetholone) or Dianabol (Methandrostenolone) for the first 4–6 weeks. These compounds are used because of their mass-adding properties that lend themselves to Deca and Testosterone quite well.

Deca Dosages

The usual dosage for physique or performance-enhancing purposes is in the range of 200–600 mg of Nandrolone Decanoate per week, taken in cycles of 8–12 weeks in length. This level is sufficient for most users to notice measurable gains in lean muscle mass and strength.

For an anabolic boost, 300mg per week is the common low-end dose, with 400–600 mg of Nandrolone Decanoate per week being fairly common. 400mg per week is as high as most athletes will go and all they will need, but some do go higher. It’s always important to remember that the higher the dose, the greater the risk of negative side effects. For most users, technically, because of its long half-life, one injection per week will work, but splitting it into two or three equal-sized, smaller injections per week is more efficient.

For performance and physique enhancement, Deca is usually used by beginners in the range of 300–500 mg per week. Intermediate users normally do not have to venture above the 500mg mark within that beginner range, especially when Deca Durabolin is stacked with other compounds such as Testosterone and/or another oral compound as a Kickstarter. Advanced users should likewise have no major requirement to veer outside this dose range, but should an advanced user require a higher dose to elicit gains, a range of approximately 600–800 mg or greater should suffice, especially if Nandrolone is the primary anabolic compound of a cycle and Testosterone is simply run as a supportive compound at TRT (Testosterone Replacement Therapy) doses.

Nandro D side effects

Nandrolone Decanoate is one of the most side-effect-friendly anabolic steroids that’s ever hit the shelf. However, there are possible side effects of Nandrolone use, but they will largely surround dosing and genetic predispositions. Most healthy adult men should not have any issues with proper and responsible use.

Nandrolone Decanoate has a low tendency for estrogen conversion, estimated to be only about 200% of that seen with testosterone. This is because while the liver can convert nandrolone to estradiol, in other more active sites of steroid aromatization, such as adipose tissue, nandrolone is far less open to this process.

Elevated estrogen levels may still be noticed with higher dosing and may cause side effects such as increased water retention, body fat gain, and gynecomastia.

An anti-estrogen such as Clomiphene citrate or Tamoxifen citrate may be necessary to prevent estrogenic side effects if they occur. Many 19-nor anabolic steroids are shown to have some affinity for the progesterone receptor as well. The side effects associated with progesterone are similar to those of estrogen.

The primary cardiovascular side effects of Nandrolone surround cholesterol, especially the reduction of HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol). Data has shown that the negative impact on HDL can be greater with nandrolone than with testosterone. This is not the unfriendliest steroid for cardiovascular health; most oral steroids will have a much stronger negative impact, but we can’t call it the friendliest either.

Nandrolone Decanoate will suppress natural testosterone production regardless of dosing or genetics. This is a fact that remains true with all anabolic steroids. However, with Nandrolone, a single 100-mg dose will suppress 100% of your testosterone production, making it the most suppressive anabolic steroid on the market. Because of the suppression that will exist, Nandrolone must be conjoined with testosterone by all men who use the steroid. The type of Testosterone, be it Testosterone Enanthate, Testosterone Cypionate, or Testosterone Propionate, is of no consequence. The only thing that matters is that your body is given the primary male hormone it needs to function properly. Those who do not supplement with Testosterone will find themselves in a low testosterone condition, along with all the symptoms that come with it.

Nandrolone Decanoate is not a hepatotoxic anabolic steroid and will cause no stress or damage to the liver.
